Pietà for Gaza is a reflection on the intersection of classical art and contemporary conflict, merging the timeless sorrow of Michelangelo’s Pietà with the brutal reality of modern-day devastation. The figures of Mary and Christ, symbols of grief and compassion, are set against the backdrop of crumbling buildings, a stark reminder of war's destructive force— like Gaza.
In line with the philosophy behind Beyond Author, this sketch is not about creating something new but rather about drawing from what already exists, allowing the Other to emerge through the act of copying and recontextualizing.
As in all my works, I don’t claim authorship in the traditional sense; I merely serve as a conduit for the images and meanings that flow through me. The process is one of release—of entering a flow state where the self dissolves, and the drawing takes shape beyond conscious intention.
